The Thought Leadership internship offers students an opportunity to enhance their leadership skills and gain hands-on experience in strategic communication and executive office support. The internship lasts 3 months, with an expected start date in June 2026. The internship offers flexible work arrangements, offering both in-person on-site in Newtork and remote participation. Who can Apply?
To apply for the UNICEF Thought internship, you must meet the following criteria:
- Applicants must be at least 18 years old at the time of application
- Academic status: Enrolled in a university degree (Bachelor’s, Master’s, PhD program)
- Applicants who graduated within the last two years are also welcome to apply
- Academic Background: Pursuing their degree or graduated in the fields of Economics, Social sciences, Political sciences, Communication, International development, or related disciplines
- Demonstrate excellent academic achievement and motivation
- Profiency in the English language
- Knowledge of any other UNICEF official language would be an assett
- Profiency in Microsoft Office tools

Interns Role
The selected participants will be working within the office of the Global Programme Division (GPD) in the following two core areas:
Programme Thought Leadership
- Assist with staff working papers, such as formatting publications and developing an analytical platform
- Assist with journals and field notes
- Organize staff book clubs and learning sessions
Strategic Engagement & Communications
- Assist with the director’s external engagement by managing LinkedIn
- Manage communication between internal staff and external partners
- Outreach via communication channels such as Instagram or WhatsApp
