Each year, the European Parliament offers 2 types of traineeship: 1) Schuman Traineeships and 2) MEP traineeships. In this post, we will focus on the Schuman Traineeship. The traineeship is named after Robert Schuman, a principal architect of the European integration project, who worked for over 70 years for peace and prosperity in Europe. It’s a 5-month paid program that offers trainees the opportunity to enhance their skills and vocational training while gaining exposure to the work of the European Parliament.
The traineeships are offered in a wide range of fields, covering external policies, finance, law, administration, communication, and IT. Who can Apply?
To be eligible for the European Parliament Schuman Traineeships, you must meet the following criteria:
- Accepting applications from citizens of both EU and Non-EU Member states
- Preference is given to nationals of EU member states
- Holding a bachelor’s degree from a recognized institute
- A few traineeship roles also accept vocational education
- Fluency in one of the offical EU languages
- Have not previously worked in any European Union agency
- Must be at least 18 years of age or above to apply
- Provide a criminal record
