Sounds amazing, right? Well, we are here with an exciting, fully funded fellowship in Japan you must consider! Applications are invited for the MIF Research Fellowship 2027. Offered by the Matusmae International Foundation (MIF), this fully funded fellowship program provides an incredible opportunity for foreign researchers to conduct research in preferred areas such as the natural sciences, engineering, medicine, and agriculture at leading research institutes in Japan. The research stay is 6 months, scheduled from June 2027 to March 2028, during which the fellows will engage in cutting-edge research in leading institutes of Japan under the supervision of renowned experts in a world-class research environment.
The fellowship is accepting applications from all nationalities – Japanese nationals are not eligible to apply. The objective of the fellowship program is to support outstanding foreign researchers in carrying out research activities in Japan and to promote research cooperation as well as international goodwill and friendship. The program will award 15 fellowships for the 2027 session. All costs related to the fellowship will be covered by the host organization, which includes a monthly allowance, round-trip airfare, insurance, a study tour, and more. MIF Fellowship Support

Who can Apply?
Applicants interested in the MIF Japanese fellowship must meet the following criteria:
- Calling applications from all nationalities
- Japanese nationals are not eligible to apply
- Applicants must be holding a PhD degree at the time of application
- Age requirement: maximum 45 years or younger
- Applicants must obtain an acceptance letter from the host institute before applying
