The Hungarian Institute of International Affairs (HIIA) is pleased to announce the call for applications for its flagship HIIA Future Leaders Program for the Fall 2026 session. This fully funded leadership programme is scheduled to take place in Hungary from September 1 to November 30, 2026.
The HIIA Future Leaders Program invites applications from recent graduates under 30 years of age who hold at least a bachelor’s degree and have a strong interest in foreign policy with an academic background in a relevant field such as International Relations, Philosophy, Political Science, History, Diplomacy, or related disciplines.
The programme offers an outstanding opportunity for young graduates to gain valuable insights into HIIA’s work while deepening their understanding of various aspects of Hungarian foreign policy. Participants will engage in an immersive learning experience and conduct research under the supervision of experienced mentors. Through their research, fellows will contribute to HIIA’s strategic focus areas and ongoing policy initiatives.
In addition to research activities, fellows will benefit from hands-on learning through tailored professional training, policy-focused seminars, workshops, and leadership development sessions. The programme is designed to equip participants with both academic knowledge and practical skills relevant to careers in international affairs and public policy.

Who can apply for HIIA’s Future Leaders Program?
To be eligible, you must meet the following criteria:
- Calling applications from both Hungarian and foreign nationals.
- Holding a minimum bachelor’s degree in relevant fields.
- The relevant fields include International Relations, Philosophy, History, Diplomacy, and Political Science.
- Applicants must be under 30 years of age at the time of application.
