The World Bank Group has recently announced the “Application Window 1” for its flagship Graduate Scholarship Programme. A prestigious scholarship programme funded by the Government of Japan and managed by the World Bank Group offers an exceptional opportunity to talented students from developing countries to pursue their full-time Master’s degree programmes in development-related fields at participating higher education institutions located in Africa, Europe, Japan, and Oceania. With 24 participating institutes, the programme offers scholarships for 44 master’s degree programmes in the areas of development, tax policy, infrastructure management, and economic policy management.
The Joint Japan/World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program was established in 1987. Since its inception, it has enabled more than 7000 deserving mid-career professionals from over 160 countries to complete their higher education in development-related fields. The objective of the JJ/World Bank scholarship program is to support outstanding students from developing countries to pursue their graduate degrees and to empower them to become leaders in development-related fields.
To be considered for the scholarship, you must secure an admission offer letter from one of the eligible 44 participating master’s degree programs; without an offer letter, you will not be considered for the JJ/WBGSP scholarship 2026. The scholarship offers generous support that covers Tuition Fees, a monthly living stipend, Health Insurance, Travel Allowance, and round-trip airfare with other perks and benefits. Eligibility Criteria
- Accepting applications from nationals of World Bank member countries
- Not holding dual nationality from any developed country
- Must be in good health to attend the degree program
- Receive unconditional admission to one of the participating institutions
- The letter of admission needs to be uploaded before the scholarship application
- Hold a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
- Candidates must have completed their degree within the past 6 years
- 3 years of professional work experience in development-related fields
- Applicants who have previously received the scholarship but didn’t avail themselves of it, or those who have not graduated, cannot apply again

The program does not provide support for:
