UNIDIR Graduate Professional Programme 2026 in Geneva (Paid)

Are you a graduate student or recent graduate interested in emerging technologies, artificial intelligence, and international security? Applications are now open for the UNIDIR Graduate Professional Programme 2026. This immersive, paid programme allows students and recent graduates to gain professional work experience at the United Nations Institute for Disarmament Research (UNIDIR) while contributing to cutting-edge research on technology-related challenges. The programme lasts approximately six months and takes place in Geneva, Switzerland. Depending on the position, it offers flexible work arrangements, including both remote and in-person participation. Selected participants will receive a stipend ranging from USD 750 to USD 1,500 per month as a contribution toward living expenses. No application fee is required.

The Paid graduate professional program is part of UNDIR’s security and technology program. The program aims to examine how emerging technologies are transforming peace, conflict, and security in the regions. The programme offers hands-on experience in international policy, research, cybersecurity, and related fields, enabling participants to work on real-world projects under the supervision of leading UNIDIR researchers and policymakers.

Who can Apply?

  • UNIDIR invites applications from all nationalities
  • Applicants enrolled in a graduate-level degree programme
  • Applicants completed their graduate degree within the last year

  • If selected, must commence the programme within one year
  • Demonstrate interest in International security, AI, Disarmament, or related fields
  • Profiency in the English language
  • Knowledge of any additional UN official language would be an assett
