The Asia Europe Foundation has announced the ASEF Capacity Building Programme 2026 through its official portal. It is a fully funded capacity-building program in China focused on gender equality and women’s participation, hosted by the Foreign Affairs Office of the People’s Government, Yunnan Province, and supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China. The program aims to bring 20 young intellectuals from ASEM partner countries working in the fields of gender equality, public dialogue, research, advocacy, and program design to participate in a 3-day immersive capacity-building program centered on gender equality and women’s participation.
The program is scheduled to take place in Kunming, China, from September 7-9, 2026. The co-organizer of the program offers comprehensive support to participants, covering airfare to and from Kunming, China, and 4 nights of accommodation. No application fee is charged. Who can Apply?
You must meet the following criteria to be eligible for the capacity-building program:
- Young leaders from ASEM (Asia Europe Meeting) partner countries can apply
- Fluency in the English language
- Applicants without relevant professional work experience are not eligible
- Young professionals working in the fields of governance, international diplomacy, advocacy, civil society, or education
- Holding a position that influences institutional practice, policy development, or public dialogue
- Demonstrate a strong interest in contributing to women’s participation and empowerment
Program Coverage
The host organization offers the following support to selected applicants:
- Round-trip economy class airfare coverage to/from Kunming, China
- 4 nights’ accommodation during the programme dates
Training Structure
The ASEF Capacity Building programme consists of intensive training sessions, designed to deepen your understanding of gender equality and women’s participation in programming, advocacy, and community-level initiatives.
