2026–27 KF Scholarship for Graduate Studies – Accepting Applications

Applications are now open for the 2026–27 KF Scholarship for Graduate Studies, offered by the Korea Foundation (KF) to international graduate students studying or planning to study a Korea-related subject or research topic at a university outside South Korea. The scholarship provides one year of financial support to eligible M.A. students and Ph.D. candidates. For this application round, students from all countries and regions, except Europe, Japan, and North America, may apply. The scholarship supports research in the humanities, social sciences, arts and cultural studies, media and communications, and contemporary Korean studies. 2026–27 KF Scholarship for Graduate Studies Overview

  • Host Organization: Korea Foundation
  • Study Area: Korea-related fields & research
  • Duration: 1 Year
  • Degree Level: Master’s & PhD
  • Application Deadline: September 11th, 2026

Scholarship Duration:

  • September 1, 2026 – August 31, 2027 for applicants from Asia excluding Japan, Russia, and Central Asia, Central and South America, Africa, the Middle East, and other eligible regions.
  • March 1, 2027 – February 28, 2028 for applicants from Oceania.

Who Can Apply?

  • Be enrolled or about to enroll as a full-time graduate student
  • Study at a university outside North America, Europe, and Japan.
  • Have citizenship or permanent residency in a country/region outside Korea.
  • Be researching a Korea-related topic.
  • M.A. and Ph.D. research can be in areas including humanities, social sciences, arts and cultural studies, media and communications, and contemporary Korean studies.
  • Applicants who have already obtained a Ph.D. are not eligible.

Applicants should prepare:

  1. Online application
  2. Study/research proposal
  3. Three reference letters
  4. Academic transcripts
  5. Curriculum vitae (CV)
  6. Proof of nationality or permanent residency

All applications and supporting documents must be submitted in Korean or English. Documents in other languages must include official translations into Korean or English.

  • August 3 – September 11, 2026
  • Reference letter submission deadline: September 16th, 2026
