IFA Rave Scholarship 2027 in Germany | Supports 3-6 Months Stay

To all cultural practitioners, we are excited to present a short-term scholarship program in Germany designed for you! Applications are now open for the Institut für Auslandsbeziehungen – IFA Rave Scholarship 2027. This fully funded short-term scholarship, supported by the Alexander Rave Foundation and managed by ifa, offers cultural professionals permanently living in countries on the OECD DAC list the opportunity to undertake a 3–6 months research stay at leading non-profit host institutions in Germany, where they can collaborate and work on joint projects.

The Rave Scholarship invites applications from curators, restorers, museum educators, cultural managers, and professionals working in relevant fields to carry out projects in areas such as cultural heritage and collections, archives, sustainability, cultural participation, and related topics. To be eligible, applicants must hold a university-level degree and have relevant professional experience in their field.

Selected scholars will receive generous support, including a monthly stipend of €1,500, visa support, travel costs, health insurance, and more. No application fee is required. Learn more about the scholarship below.

Purpose of Rave Scholarship

The scholarship is funded and supported by the Alexander Tave Foundation of Institut für Auslandsbeziehungen (ifa). The programme aims to support talented cultural professionals from eligible countries to carry out research projects at participating host institutions in Germany and to enable them to gain skills, knowledge, and experience in cultural heritage, as well as build long-term relationships. The objective of the Rave Scholarship programme is to promote mutual understanding, foster dialogue and creativity, and encourage the exchange of ideas.

Scholarship Coverage:

The Rave scholarship offers the following support to selected participants:

  • A monthly allowance of EUR 1,500/month to cover living expenses
  • A dedicated family allowance of EUR 250 for spouse & EUR 250/child
  • Visa costs coverage
  • Return airfare flights coverage
  • Health insurance
  • Monthly travel pass to support local transportation costs
  • Language course fee up to EUR 500

Who can Apply for the Rave Scholarship?

You must fulfill the following criteria to be eligible for a scholarship:

  • Applicants permanently living in the countries listed in the DAC list
  • Applicants must have completed a university degree
  • Have excellent English communication skills
  • Have a clear project idea
  • Secure approval from the German host institute
  • The scholarship is intended for cultural professionals, such as Museum staff, Researchers, curators, and culture managers

Funding Options:

The Rave scholarship is offering two types of funding options, which are:

1). Stay in Germany (Country on DAC List -> Germany)

The funding supports cultural professionals from DAC-listed countries to carry out a 3-6 months research stay in Germany. During their stay, they will work with the host institute in Gemernay on a joint project related to the archive, museum collection, or institutional development.

2). Option Reciprocal Stay (Germany -> Country on DAC List)

This funding opportunity supports short-term visits from Germany to the applicant’s host country, allowing participation in a brief stay outside Germany. It aims to support exchange and collaboration.
