To all the international students, what could be better than gaining hands-on research experience at one of Switzerland’s most renowned research institutes with all your finances covered? It’s raining opportunities in Switzerland. Previously, we shared the CERN Openlab summer programme; yet again, we are here with another exciting programme that you should not miss out on. Applications are now open to apply for the UNIL Switzerland Summer Research Program 2026. UNIL (University of Lausanne), through its official portal, has recently announced a call for applications to its “SUR Programme”, also known as “Summer Undergraduate Research Program”, and is seeking outstanding students from around the world to apply.
The Research program is exclusively for the current undergraduate students pursuing degrees in Medicine, Biology, or related fields with a strong interest in Biological sciences. No prior research experience required to be eligible for the program. The UNIL summer research programme is highly competetive. Students holding excellent academic records with strong communication skills are encouraged to apply. The program will run for 8 weeks from July 3 to August 27th, 2026, at the University of Lausanne, Switzerland.
This is your chance to experience cutting-edge research while working on an individual research project under the guidance/mentorship of UNIL faculty. The program offers generous support to the selected students, covering all the costs, including accommodation, travel allowance, stipend, visa assistance, and more. UNIL SUR2026Objective:
The objective of the SUR2026 programme is to attract outstanding undergraduate students from around the world and to provide them with a cutting-edge research experience in biology, medicine, and other related life sciences disciplines in UNIL’s Faculty of Biology & Sciences.

Eligiblity Criteria
SUR Programme is open for applicants meeting the following criteria:
- Accepting applications from all nationals
- Students must be currenly pursuing a bachelor’s degree program in medicine, biology, or related fields
- Have a strong focus on Biological science
- Students must have completed 2 years of their degree program
- Currently enrolled in the third year of the degree program
- Prior Research experience is not a selection criterion
- Applicants must hold excellent academic achievements
- Excellent English communication skills, both written & Spoken
- Committed to attending the entire summer programme
Coverage
The selected participants will get the following support to attend the program:
- Free Accommodation in Furnished Apartments (Single/Double Rooms)
- An allowance of approximately CHF 1,500 to cover living expenses
- A travel allowance to cover your costs of travel to Switzerland
- Visa assistance is offered to all the selected applicants
Host Laboratories
